6.5 Hours Later....

July 26, 2012

While out at Brat Days in Rockford Illinois we prepared the Johnsonville Brat Hot Tub for the local news channels right on location while raising money for the Alpine Kiwanis. Normally when we are preparing the brat hot tub for the media, we have to pack up right afterwards because we usually pull right into the studio. But on this day we had ALL day :-) . So we pushed it to the limit to see just how exceptional a Johnsonville Brat could turn out from being in the Brat Hot Tub.

I did the usual, beer, butter, and onions in a foil pan right on the grill – over medium heat. Only this time I left it on the grill for 6.5 hours and added more beer whenever I needed to because it was constantly boiling off.

We had 75 year old men, young men, grill masters and even a chef try the “Extreme Beer Brat.” The results were unanimous! No one, I repeat, NO ONE had ever tasted such a wonderful Johnsonville Brat. They literally crumbled apart in your mouth. The beer and butter had pushed all of the water out of the brat and infiltrated it with flavor. So the next time you really want to shock your guests palates, just add more beer and time! :-)
