The No Ordinary Burger Contest Finals!
August 11, 2012
The Johnsonville No Ordinary Burger Contest was certainly no ordinary contest. After almost not being able to get all of the contestants in on time, we lucked out and were able to find everyone flights. All of the contestants made it to the hotel in Times Square in New York City by ten o’clock on Friday night. They were allowed to examine their ingredients and approve of them so they could be ready to cook on Saturday morning for Fox & Friends.
We got a few hours of sleep and then it was up and at ‘em to get the Big Taste Grill down to Times Square to set-up in front of the Fox News building. After navigating some tight turns, folding out some legs on some tables, and lighting a whole lot of propane, the contestants were grilling. They were each given 90 minutes to prep, grill, and present their final No Ordinary Burger recipe to the panel of judges that would decide which one would walk away with the $10,000 grand prize.
Unfortunately when one of the presidential candidates decided to announce his V.P. running mate at the exact same time we were supposed to air, Fox was forced to switch their coverage from the No Ordinary Burger contest final to political talk. But for our grill masters, the show had to go on. They grilled while we thrilled… as the Big Taste Grill charred up Johnsonville Brat Burgers to perfection for observers passing by.
After 90 minutes, their time was up and the judging commenced. It was a grueling task for our judges to decide which Johnsonville Brat Burger recipe was the best, because after all, this was the great taste of Johnsonville they were dealing with. They debated and tasted, tasted and debated. They pondered and analyzed, and then analyzed and pondered…and finally after much deliberation a winner was decided. Check out tomorrow’s blog to find out who won!
